How to Install Your byKron Overlay in OBS Studio with Marketplace Connect

Bought a byKron pack and want to install it in OBS Studio using the Elgato Marketplace Connect plugin? This is the cleanest way to set up an overlay in OBS — the plugin handles imports, asset downloads, and Stream Deck integration in a single guided flow.

The full setup takes around five minutes. No manual file relinking, no scene rebuilding.

Prerequisite. You'll need the Elgato Marketplace Connect plugin installed in OBS Studio. If you don't have it yet, download it for free at elgato.com/downloads and install it before continuing.

Before you start. Extract your overlay pack ZIP to a permanent folder on your PC. Don't import directly from inside the ZIP, and avoid moving the folder afterwards — this guide depends on stable file paths.

Step 1. Open Tools and click Import Maker Scene Collection

With OBS Studio open, click the Tools menu in the top menu bar. From the dropdown, select Import Maker Scene Collection. This option only appears once Marketplace Connect is properly installed.

Step 2. Select the .elgatoscene file from your pack

A file browser window opens. Navigate to your extracted pack folder and select the .elgatoscene file. This is the bundle that Marketplace Connect uses to install the entire overlay package. Click Open to confirm.

Step 3. Click Create new to start a fresh collection

The Marketplace Connect wizard opens with two options. Click Create new to import the pack as a brand new Scene Collection — this keeps your existing scenes safe and untouched.

When to use Merge with current: only if you want to add the new scenes on top of your current setup. For most users, Create new is the right choice.

Step 4. Complete the wizard: Name, Cameras, Microphone

The wizard walks you through three short configuration steps. You can run through all of them in under a minute.

  1. Name scene collection. Type a name that's easy to recognize later (e.g. My new Overlay - byKron) and click Continue.
  2. Set up cameras. If you use a webcam, assign it from the dropdown. Otherwise, leave it as None and click Continue.
  3. Choose microphone. Pick your input device — the default option works for most setups. When ready, click Import to finalize.

Step 5. Install required widgets

OBS opens a Post install configuration window listing third-party assets needed by the pack. Click Get next to Widgets to download and install them automatically.

Wait for the install to finish. Once complete, the button changes state to confirm everything was added.

Step 6. (Optional) Connect to Stream Deck

If you own an Elgato Stream Deck, you'll see a Stream Deck integration screen showing the included profile and pre-configured action keys (BRB, END, IN GAME, LIVE CHAT, LIVE ON, OFF, PRINT, REC, START, WIDGETS). You have two options:

  • Click Add to Stream Deck to import the profile directly into your Stream Deck app.
  • Click Done to skip the Stream Deck integration entirely.

If you don't have a Stream Deck, simply click Done — the overlay works perfectly fine without it.

You're ready to go live

OBS reloads with your new Scene Collection active. You'll see all the imported scenes in the Scenes panel — Starting Soon, Live Scene, Intermission, Be Right Back, Stream Ending, Extra Scenes, and Widgets.

Run a final pre-stream check before going public:

  1. Click each scene to confirm the visuals load correctly
  2. Verify webcam and microphone inputs are routing properly
  3. Check audio mixer levels in both horizontal and vertical canvases
  4. Hit Start Streaming when everything looks right

Troubleshooting

Import Maker Scene Collection isn't showing in the Tools menu.
The Marketplace Connect plugin isn't installed correctly. Reinstall it from elgato.com/downloads and restart OBS Studio.

The wizard fails when selecting the .elgatoscene file.
This typically means the file is corrupted or was modified after extraction. Re-extract the original ZIP to a clean folder and try again.

The Get button on Widgets stays loading forever.
Check your internet connection. If it persists, restart OBS Studio and try the install again — the widgets package is downloaded directly from Elgato's servers.

Some scenes show black after import.
This usually means a source needs additional configuration (like webcam or game capture). Click the source in the Sources panel and adjust its properties.

Can I use this pack in Streamlabs Desktop?
Yes — byKron provides a separate setup guide for Streamlabs Desktop. Check our blog for the dedicated walkthrough.
