How to Install Your byKron Overlay in Streamlabs

How to Install Your byKron Overlay in Streamlabs

Just bought a byKron pack and ready to set it up for your next stream? This guide walks you through the entire process — from your downloaded files to a fully configured Streamlabs Desktop, ready to go live. We'll cover both essential parts: importing the overlay scenes and connecting your alert widgets.

The full setup takes less than ten minutes. No technical knowledge required.

Before you start. Extract the ZIP file of your pack to a permanent folder on your PC. Avoid importing directly from inside the ZIP, and don't move the folder after import — doing so will break the file paths inside your overlay.

Part 1 — Install the overlay in Streamlabs Desktop

Step 1. Open your pack folder

Inside the extracted folder, you'll find four items: Icons, One Click Setups, Scene Collections, and a Thumb.jpg preview image. For this first part, open the Scene Collections folder — that's where the overlay file lives.

Step 2. Open Streamlabs Desktop and click Settings

Launch Streamlabs Desktop. In the bottom-left corner of the application, you'll see a Settings option in the side menu. Click on it to open the configuration window.

Step 3. Configure Scene Collections, Designer Mode, and Import Overlay File

Three actions happen on this screen, in this exact order:

  1. In the left-side menu, select Scene Collections
  2. Toggle Enable Designer Mode to ON
  3. Click the Import Overlay File button

Designer Mode is what unlocks the import functionality, so make sure the toggle is active before clicking the button.

Step 4. Select the .overlay file

A file browser window opens. Navigate to the Scene Collections folder of your pack, select the .overlay file, then click Open to confirm.

Step 5. Your scenes are now loaded

Streamlabs creates a new Scene Collection containing every scene from the pack: Live Scene, Intermission, Starting Soon, Be Right Back, Stream Ending, and Extra Scenes. Click any scene in the list to load it onto the canvas.

Quick tip. If a file is reported as missing, do not move the overlay folder. Instead, relink the source by right-clicking it and pointing to the correct file path.

Part 2 — Install the widgets

Important. Before continuing, log in to streamlabs.com using the same account that's connected to your Streamlabs Desktop. The widgets will only appear if both sessions match.

Step 6. Open the One Click Setups folder

Return to your pack's main folder and open the One Click Setups folder. Inside, you'll find the shortcut that handles widget creation automatically.

Step 7. Run the Streamlabs Alerts Setup shortcut

Double-click the StreamLabs Alerts Setup file. Your default browser opens automatically on the Streamlabs widget creation page.

Step 8. Click Create at the bottom of the list

The browser shows the Widget Themes selection panel. Scroll down past the existing themes and click the Create button next to the Create a new Widget Theme option.

Step 9. Name your widget theme and confirm

A small dialog asks for a name. Use anything memorable — byKron works well. The description field is optional. Click Create to confirm.

Step 10. Your widget theme is active

Your new theme appears at the top of the list, marked as Active. Every widget on streamlabs.com (Alert Box, Chat Box, Tip Jar, etc.) will now save its configuration inside this theme — so you can switch between themes without losing your customizations.

You're ready to go live

Your byKron pack is fully installed. The scenes live in Streamlabs Desktop, the widgets are wired into your account, and everything's connected.

Run a final check before going live:

  1. Switch back to Streamlabs Desktop
  2. Select a scene like Starting Soon to confirm the visuals load correctly
  3. Click Test Widgets to trigger sample alerts and confirm they fire
  4. Hit Go Live when everything looks right

Troubleshooting

The widgets aren't showing on stream.
Confirm you're logged into streamlabs.com using the exact same account as your Desktop app. If the issue persists, redo Step 7 to regenerate the widget link.

Streamlabs reports missing files when switching scenes.
This means the overlay folder was moved after the import. Either return it to its original location, or right-click each affected source and relink it manually.

Can I use this pack in OBS Studio or Meld Studio?
